Abstract | One version of the Artin approximation theorem
asserts that if a system of polynomial equations
has a sufficiently good approximate power series
solution then it admits an exact solution.
In the lecture, we will show how this theorem
relates to the resolution of singularities and the
theory of arc spaces. An intermediate tool will be
an infinite dimensional version of the theorem of
constant rank from differential geometry. Towards
the end we will consider these issues also in
positive characteristic. |
