Vector bundles destabilized by Frobenius, opers and the Hitchin Mochizuki Morphism |

| Abstract | Let X be a smooth projective curve of genus at least two over an
algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. It was observed long
time ago that there exists stable vector bundles on X which become unstable
on pull-back under the Frobenius morphism of X. In a recent joint work with
Christian Pauly we have given an explicit description of all such vector
bundles or rank r under the assumption that the characteristic is greater
than an explicit constant depending on the rank r and the genus g.
In this talk I will describe these results and also the relation to opers
and the Hitchin-Mochizuki morphism. The talk is aimed at a wide audience
with background in general algebraic geometry. |
